Jongo excerpt
Premio-sharpe (Brazil's grammy) winning composer/guitarist
Paulo Bellinati
(b.1950) describes Jongo as his first "greatest hit". In 1988 he won the first prize for composition with his solo guitar version of
Jongo
at the 8th Carrefour Mondial de La Guitare in Martinique. This piece is a show-stopper each time it's performed, whether in it's original solo version or in Paulo's own duo arrangement. This piece was chosen as the title track for our debut recording "
Jongo! Music of South America for Two Guitars
" - we think if you give this short excerpt a listen, you'll understand why...

La Vida Breve live concert excerpt
Manuel de Falla
(1876-1946) is one of the most important and respected Spanish composers of the last century. In 1904 Falla's one-act opera
La vida breve
won the composition competition of the Real Academia. Falla spoke often of trying to create a big guitar sound with his orchestral compositions - no surprise, as his birthplace, Cadiz, is located at the southern-most tip of Andalucia! In this excerpt from a live performance, we've tried to show the energy of gypsy flamenco while keeping to Falla's classical integrity.
The Ballerina Waltz live concert excerpt
St. Louis guitarist/composer
William Foden
wrote this piece sometime around 1890. This delicate parlor gem doesn't try to be anything more than what it is - a look back at the turn of the century to simpler times. In this concert excerpt, we've tried to recreate just that feeling of an evening spent with close friends, candlelight and beautiful music.
